Street Art

Street Art

Street art refers to artistic creations produced in a public space, usually without formal authorisation.

Street artists frequently engage in studio work, host gallery exhibitions, or explore diverse creative avenues. Their engagement with these forms doesn’t signify an opposition to traditional art – rather, it underscores their appreciation for the freedom inherent in public art, liberated from the constraints of societal judgement.

While contemporary graffiti primarily centres on 'tagging' and text-based themes, street art embraces a wider spectrum of creative expression. Street art operates within a realm devoid of rigid regulations, allowing for boundless creativity. Nevertheless, typical materials and methods encompass fly-posting (also referred to as wheat-pasting), stencilling, stickers, freehand drawing, and even video projections.
