Plinth

Plinth

A plinth is a rectangular slab or block at the bottom of a column, statue, pedestal, or pier, forming its base.

A plinth serves as the base or support for statues, vases, columns, or certain altars. Smaller, often round pedestals are referred to as socles. In civil engineering, it's known as a basement. The typical minimum height for a plinth is around 45 cm.
